World Environment Day – 2025

On June 5, with the support of the European Union and the initiative of CENN, World Environment Day was celebrated in Telavi under this year’s theme: “Beat Plastic Pollution.”

Visitors had the opportunity to learn more about waste reduction and the principles of the circular economy:

• In the Zero Effect space, a swap activity was organized for second-hand clothes, books, and accessories — giving old items a new life.
• Tene collected plastic bottles and caps, and in return, guests received refurbished USB cables and phone holders.
• Wasteless offered participants the opportunity to contribute to environmental protection by handing over electronic waste.
  

Students from Telavi Public School N2, Telavi Public School N4, and Akhmeta Public School N2 presented thematic performances on environmental protection and waste management. Their creativity and dedication once again highlighted the crucial role of young people in driving environmental change.

World Environment Day was organized within the framework of the EU-funded project “Circular Cities and Regions in Georgia,” implemented by CENN in cooperation with ICLEI Europe. The event was supported by Zero Effect, Wasteless, and Tene.
