The Second Industrial Symbiosis Network Meeting in Kakheti
With the support of the European Union, CENN hosted the second working meeting of the Industrial Symbiosis Network (ISN) in Kakheti. The primary focus of the event was cross-sectoral cooperation—an approach that serves as a cornerstone of the circular economy and delivers direct economic benefits to businesses.
The meeting was organized within the framework of the EU-funded project “Circular Cities and Regions in Georgia” (CCRG). It brought together up to 40 participants, including private sector leaders, representatives of sectoral associations, and industry experts.
The first part of the meeting was dedicated to an interactive discussion on replacing single-use plastic packaging. Participants explored this transition not merely as a regulatory requirement, but as a strategic opportunity to implement innovative and eco-friendly business approaches. Representatives from retail chains, the HoReCa sector, and the packaging industry shared their firsthand experiences and practical insights.
The central block of the meeting showcased successful collaborations between businesses united by circular practices. Through case studies presented by ISN members, it became evident how cross-sectoral partnerships can generate tangible financial gains while significantly enhancing corporate reputation.
The concluding session focused on circular business as a tool for attracting investment and expanding market reach. Otar Antia (Investors Council) emphasized the importance of B2B cooperation and shared services for the sustainable growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The Industrial Symbiosis Network remains committed to deepening cooperation both among existing members and with new companies. CENN expresses its full readiness to assist businesses in identifying their needs, finding potential partners, and organizing targeted working meetings to facilitate collaborative growth.
