Industrial Symbiosis Network – Firsr Meeting in Batumi
First Meeting of the Industrial Symbiosis Network
CENN, in cooperation with the international organization ICLEI Europe and with the support of the European Union, has established an Industrial Symbiosis Network in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara — a platform that aims to:
- Strengthen cooperation among companies in the region;
- Promote efficient use and sharing of resources;
- Reduce waste;
- Optimize business processes in line with the principles of the circular economy.
The Industrial Symbiosis Network is an informal platform designed to encourage collaboration among member companies through resource and knowledge sharing, waste reduction, and business process optimization.
First Meeting of the Industrial Symbiosis Network in Batumi
The first meeting was held on 23 July in Batumi, where:
- Member companies learned about international practices and successful examples of industrial symbiosis;
- Participants had the opportunity to hear from a representative of Israel’s Industrial Symbiosis Network;
- They were introduced to successful circular business models from the following companies: Silk Hospitality, Gogora, The Body Shop Georgia, and the family guesthouse Thomas’ Cottage;
- They discussed existing needs, challenges, and opportunities, and reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation by signing a memorandum of understanding.
The network brings together representatives of the HoReCa sector, retail and wholesale trade, and manufacturing companies.
The Industrial Symbiosis Network is part of the EU-funded project “Circular Cities and Regions in Georgia,” implemented by CENN in partnership with ICLEI Europe. The project aims to strengthen climate resilience in Georgia and support a just transition by reducing waste and promoting the planning and implementation of circular economy practices.
