From April to June 2025, CENN, with ICLEI Europe and the support of the European Union, organized the Circular Schools Challenge in Kakheti under the Circular Cities and Regions in Georgia project. Over 20 schools joined, forming eco-club teams of students and teachers to rethink waste practices and implement circular solutions. Activities focused on reducing plastic use, composting organic waste, creative reuse of materials, and community awareness campaigns.
The competition concluded on July 15, 2025, with a final event and award ceremony hosted by CENN in Kakheti. Participating schools presented their action plans and shared inspiring stories of change, while guest speakers highlighted successful practices in sustainable development. The winners were: Gurjaani Public School, Tsinandali Public School and Akhmeta Public School. Certificates were awarded to all teachers and students for their successful participation. The initiative demonstrated how youth, educators, and local communities can work hand-in-hand to reduce waste, strengthen eco-clubs, and advance circular economy practices in Georgia.
