Guria, July 13, 2026 – How can technological innovation, reviving traditions, and eco-friendly approaches boost a regional economy? To explore these solutions firsthand, a study tour was organized in the Guria region, focusing on “Local Sustainable Production and Supply Chain”. Participants had the opportunity to visit successful local eco-friendly enterprises and learn how green practices integrate into supply chains.
The tour was attended by member organizations of the Adjara Industrial Symbiosis and Circular Economy Platform. During the tour, participants visited four outstanding local businesses:
“Blueberry Garden” (Melekeduri Village, Ozurgeti): Participants visited a modern, high-tech plantation focused on producing premium-class, ecologically clean products. The farm is equipped with an automated smart irrigation system and sensors for precise control of moisture and fertilizers, contributing to the local economy and creating new jobs.
Tea House “Taba” (Melekeduri Village, Ozurgeti): The brand, which has spent 8 years restoring historical tea plantations cultivated in 1933, introduced visitors to its unique world. Tour participants visited the plantations to observe the growing and harvesting processes, toured the production facility where 7 varieties of “Taba” tea are produced, and enjoyed a tea tasting.
Goat Cheese Workshop “Kala’s Farm” (Chokhatauri): Participants visited a modern-standard goat milk processing enterprise that collects an average of 300 liters of milk per day from the local population. In addition to the production space, the guests explored the mini-tasting corner designed for tourists and masterclasses.
“Skiji House” (Chokhatauri): The tour concluded at “Skiji House,” a European-standard family complex. Participants enjoyed lunch in a comfortable and authentic environment and learned about their high-quality local products, including dried fruits, dried fruit candies, fruit tea, and jams. About the Projects: The study tour was organized within the framework of CENN’s ongoing EU-funded projects: (1) “Circular Cities and Regions in Georgia” and (2) “Green Guria – Supporting Local Democracy and Rural Development for Inclusive and Resilient Green Growth”.
