7 intensive days filled with new knowledge and hands-on experiences at the Bulachauri Green Center have come to an end!
The camp hosted 23 active young people from the Adjara and Kakheti regions, who deepened their knowledge of waste reduction, reuse, and green innovations.
What happened during the 7-day camp?
Fundamentals of Circular Economy & REUSE: During the first days of the camp, CENN representative Elene Bedenashvili introduced participants to the essence of the circular economy, best practices for REUSE, and plastic alternatives. They also discussed implementing green solutions in educational institutions.
Intersectoral Cooperation & Waste Management: Together with Roni Kvachadze, an expert from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP Georgia), participants thoroughly explored the concept, challenges, and opportunities of the circular economy. Following the theoretical lecture, they put ways to reduce daily waste into practice through interactive games. Vano Mtvrralashvili, Director of the Waste Management Association of Georgia, and Shalva Akhvlediani, Director of Tegeta Green Planet, shared practical insights on managing specific and auto-industrial waste within the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework.
European Opportunities & Eco-Footprint: Climate and environmental protection expert Tutana Kvaratskhelia discussed global climate change and the green transition with the participants. Together with eco-influencer Nina Barjadze, the youth calculated their personal ecological footprint, while with the Young European Ambassadors, they played the “Board Game of Europe” and learned about EU educational, exchange, and development programs.
Green Business in Practice — Visit to ProCredit Bank: Camp participants visited the head office of ProCredit Bank, where they learned firsthand about the bank’s green initiatives and sustainable development standards.
Planning Eco-Campaigns & Role-Playing Games: An interactive role-playing game “Agriculture – No Plasticulture” was held. In the second half of the day, participants worked in groups to plan their own environmental campaigns and presented creative projects they aim to implement in their local communities.
The camp officially closed with a certificate award ceremony and farewell activities.
